The Farm
Untitled Document The Farm:

Nestled deep in the heart of Cajun country is a 30 acre crawfish farm with a big family acadian style house.  I raise and sell our very own crawfish,  & pot belly piglets. Our biggest seller is my home grown crawfish fresh from the pond to your table. The day starts here on the farm with a glorious sunrise (sometimes I even get up to see it).  I start feeding the animals, first is the goats and sheep. These are my 4 footed friends that love to be petted and enjoy the attention as well as the food.

Feeling a little unloved?? I got the a big kisser, my potty belly piglets feel that leathery nose smooch your troubles away! Parent "Bacon" does say hello so be sure to offer regards to him!

I have benches along my shoreline to sit, relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility. Hear the birds sing and enjoy our beautiful warm weather all year long.

Next I go to the chicken house to collect eggs and visit the young chicks. They are so cute to hold, so warm, soft and cuddly in their yellow down. These roosters and hens roam free in our bamboo forest to eat bugs all day and eat green grass and plants. I do feed grains if they come home! I lock them up at night because i have possums, skunks, coyotes, wild dogs and lots of wild mink round our ponds that like a chicken dinner almost as much as i do.

Living the farm life you can imagine my meals here.

Crawfish is our biggest adventure. i launch my boats about 10 o 'clock filled with feed and sacks and pails to catch my crawfish. This is a experience I recommend to everyone to try at least once.  It's a simple process. Drive up to the trap, empty out the crawfish trap, throw in the feed and replace it back in the water. Sounds easy right? But I didn't mention that you will catch some fish, a frog or two and even a occasional turtle or OH MY GOD A SNAKE. Oh did we tell you crawfish have claws to pinch you with?   Crawfish can predict the weather too! They will haul in grass into the traps  when a storm approaches which you then have to clean out.Yuck!  Crawfish change as the weather changes, the water changes, and the food they are given.
